Top 4 Wilmington’s BEST Restaurants and Eateries¬†

If there’s one thing everyone has in common, be it a tourist visiting from India or a local having been born and raised here you’re whole life, is good food.

Food is the one connector that bonds people no matter what your race, nationality or background. When people come together with food at the table everybody rejoice. It not only satisfies a basic human need for survival it also allows us to connect on deeper levels. We can all relate to eating delicious food while enjoying the company of others.

Below’s four (4) restaurants in Downtown Wilmington that will give you butterfly’s. There are many more to list but, we don’t want to ruin the element of surprise (smiles). Some experiences are better left to discover on your own:

Flaming Amy’s Burrito Barn

Home of the best burrito and Mexican food you’ll ever have on American soil, this place NEVER disappoints! Our favorite meal are the Thai Nachos. Everything comes in generous portions.

If you’re a vegan. No worries. They serve plenty of vegan options such as vegan cheese and chili, mock meats and tofu. When we say, “TASTY” we mean “T-A-S-T-Y!”. By the way, don’t forget to hit up the bar for some pineapple salsa. Trust us on this one.

Britt’s Donuts

“Donuts! Donuts! Get Yer’ Donuts Here!” – Britt’s Donuts is a Carolina Beach staple icon family owned since 1939. It’s a favorite among locals and city visitors known for their delicious, warm donuts. After having even ONE of these puppies you’ll wish you could travel back in time to re-live that experience before you find yourself ordering a dozen for yourself alone.

It’ll only be a matter of time before the feelings of “shame” and “sickness” overcomes you for what you’ve just done. You’ve been warned (smiled)

Squigley’s Ice Cream Treat Parlor

If Britt’s is to donuts, than Squigley’s is to Ice Cream. Mother has always told us to ‘eat our fruits and veggies’ before desert, but did that exclude strawberries in vanilla ice cream? Why not enjoy the best of both words? As for the veggies, well, we can give that one a ‘pass’ (smiles).

Squigleys Ice Cream and Treats, also located conveniently along Carolina Beach, carries a whopping 4,050 homemade ice cream treats with numerous toppings and flavors. Store brand ice cream doesn’t hold a candle to the this local small town shop. Squigley’s is every sweet tooths’ guilty pleasure.

Little Dipper Fondue

Typically, when you think “fondue” you picture the ’70’s when it first became popular in the country. It has since become a dying breed, that is, until Little Dipper Fondue came ‘dipping its nose’ to find success.

The food is unique and fantastic and the setting has a relaxing feel to it. Being based downtown it’s super convenient to be able to walk around freely after supper for desert at Britt’s Donuts or Squigleys.

You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the serving staff as they help you ‘feel your way around’ as this is not your traditional restaurant. They’re patient, kind, and accommodating. Though open early evening, the ambiance is best enjoyed at night.
